Sherwood Mill Pond Preserve
In 2006 our firm was selected to work alongside the Westport Parks and Recreation Department and the Sherwood Mill Pond Preserve Committee to design a waterfront park. Located on Hillspoint Road, the site had formerly been home to the historic Allen’s Clam House.
Our award winning design of the park incorporates natural materials and native plantings in an effort to contribute to this rich ecosystem. Pathways and a canoe/kayak launch were created to allow users to explore these tidal wetlands. Located throughout these pathways are educational signs which give visitors a more in-depth history of the area and the flora and fauna that habitat it.
The designs we created were implemented in phases starting in 2009. Phase One was attended by over 100 volunteers who planted over 3500 shrubs, trees and wetland plugs. Later phases included creating a canoe/kayak launch, designating pathways, placing benches and making a small parking lot. Construction was completed in 2010 and the preserve continues to flourish.
In 2012 we received the Honor Award for Municipal and Public Spaces from the Connecticut Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects for our work at Sherwood Mill Pond.

Westport Parks & Recreation
From 2008 through 2010, our firm served as the Park Planning and Landscape Design Consultant to the Westport Parks and Recreation Department. In addition to our work at the Sherwood Mill Pond Preserve, we prepared a planting design for Pasacreta Park that was part of the submittal that won the 2009 Plant Connecticut Award from the Connecticut Nursery and Landscape Association (CNLA). CNLA member-volunteers implemented the plan in October 2009.
Other projects included improvements to Compo Beach and design studies for other parks along the Saugatuck River and for the Westport Town Hall.
